How illegal in Queensland is it to remove the mud flaps off my zook?
Will this cause any issues?

Mudflaps in NSW have to cover the full tyre and be maximum 300mm off the ground.

I drove with no mudflaps for 3 years.

All depends on your luck.

its illegal, but whenever you get pulled up you can sometimes get away with saying it was like that from new. unless the cop knows sierras, it works... well, did for me anyway.

I don't know about Queensland, but it is the #1 cause of cars being defected in Victoria.

Why would you want to take them off? I know there are good reasons to remove them off road, and many of us do, but we always put them back on when we air up. Throwing stones at following cars is not cool.

I run hooks on mine so I hook them up out the way when I am in the bush.

the biggest issue i have with my mudflaps is reversing over them, which tears the mudflap off the bolts that holds them in and destroys them... since going through a few mudflaps i've started cable tieing them on - now when i reverse over them the cable tie snaps and no the mudflap. Its usually loud enough that you hear it ping off and can collect the mudflap off the ground later =)

I made quick release pins to take mine off when in the bush and pin back on for the street. This was after a visit to the pits for full inspection due to no flaps

anybody got some pics of non-moulded mud flaps on the vitara? i have found it hard to do, especially a 31" there is not enough room between the rear of the guard and the tire let alone have a mud flap there. mine are 100mm from the rear of the tire (on edge of bumper), it just doesnt look right.

It was still new back then

They were adjustable, so you could tuck them up, but one got ripped off by polar bear cause I hadn't pulled them up. Was all done with nylon webbing tie down straps, now they're heaps shorter...

Mine is a heap lower from that pic... that was with 3" BL. that bolt, I replaced with a dome headed one & it still rubs. The flap picks up all the original mud flap holes & was 5 or 6mm rubber.

you can buy quick disconnects for your flaps these days ... no pun intended. you can get them from Low Range

Cut the front of the bumper back a bit and hit the plate back a bit then bolt the flap over the top
