RE:99 JIMMY. G13BB. I'VE HAD THE MOTOR START TO MISS AND THEN STOP WHEN I GET A HEAT BUILD UP UNDER THE BONNET. FIRST WAS AT DI IN SOFT SAND AFTER 10 MINS IN 1ST AND SECOND IT STARTED TO MISS AND THEN SHUT DOWN. MOTOR TEMP GAGE IS OK. LIFTED BONNET TO LET IT COOL AND WAS OK. WITH THIS WEEKS HEATWAVE IN MELB IT DID IT AGAIN. I WAS PARKED WITH AIRCON GOING FOR 10 MINS AND SAME THING. I'M THINKING IT'S A SENSOR SHUTTING DOWN WHEN UNDER BONNET HEAT BUILDS UP WITH NO AIRFLOW.. ANY IDEAS BOYS.

My 2000 Jimny with the M13A motor missed a few times and then shut down while doing 100 on the freeway. After 5-10min it fired up and off we went. After another 10 min same again. Got of the freeway and it ran fine all the way home. Turns out the "Crank Position Sensor" was faulty. They have a default in the computer that allows the car to do 60, once you start revving it high for long periods the motor won't advance so it shuts down.
I've heard it called other names but "Crank Position Sensor" is what they called it at ZUPP's Suzuki
