Consider the following ...
1) How thick is the sump where the drain plug goes in?
2) How long is the threaded portion of the fitting?
3) How high above the floor of the sump will the end of the fitting be?
And finally - what's on the floor of the sump? My guess is that's where the sludge and muck you want out of the sump will be, and once that fitting projects above the floor of the sump, when you drain the oil, you're trapping that muck in there.
I have one on my Vitara, but not that design, I don't like how you could just open the valve so easy.
This is the brand I have and it sits flush with the pan. Therefore, all of the oil is drained.
