Hi all,

After about 6 months of reading these forums and gaining some info from a lot of you, I have finally purchased a 96 SWB JLX Vitara, 1.6EFI Auto, Stock Standard, with under 170,000km on the clock.
Particular thanks to Gwagensteve for previous advice on what to look for .
Now for a couple of quick questions.
The vehicle will be collected at the weekend and needs to be driven 200+ kms home. Given that I don't know much about the Suzuki, other than doing the usual tyres, oil, and water check before departing, what else should I check for and what do you suggest for the trip.eg Drive for 15 mins and re check temp, oil etc.

Not to sure about this and I don't want to stuff something up just because I miss a warning sign.

Thanks for the help so far,
Kev.

Just treat it like any other car mate. Check your temps and fluids, listen for odd noises, smells etc, and drive safely.

Also it will take you 3 days if you are stopping to check water every 15 minutes, having to let it cool down enough to open without burning yourself.

I'm guessing you'll be going with a mate so if trouble strikes you'll have support.
Take some tools & tow rope so you don't need them

Check the obvious & air in tyres and enjoy the adventure

Have u got RACV or your equivalent

I bought a 30 yr old original imported unreg classic & drove home 800km, many things didn't work, checked the fuel & topped up the oil at each servo we passed,

one of lifes highlites.

The car drove a treat and never missed a beat.
Another question however,
it does not have the owners handbook so I don't know how somethings work.
Does anyone have a spare book for a 95-96 Vitara for sale or can someone suggest where I might be able to get one.
