leave the car on the ground, wiggle the wheel hard and listen/feel for a clunk. if you feel one get a mate to stand hard on the brakes and do it again. if it stops with the brakes on (or almost completely goes away) its a good indication its the bearings.

could be wheel bearings, could be king pin bearings, best way to check is get somebody to wobble while you look for which bit is moving and which isnt

By applying the brakes you usually remove the bearings play and if it still wiggles it is usually kingpins. also jacking and slowly lowering and looking for movement in the kingpins.

If there is movement when brakes applied (i'm assuming front wheels) then i would be having a good look at king pins
