Hello everyone, long time reader, first time poster! Sorry it's a question on tyres!

I've read through as much as I can, if I've missed where this has been answered feel free to point me in the right direction.

My question is- I'm in VIC and got a 03 GV V6 that is just about to get a 20 mm EFS lift. I want to run a set of AT's, and in the stock 235/60 r16 size I think the options are Yoko GO12 and Bridgestone D697, which from what I understand are both good tyres. Stepping up in size gives me a lot more options and fits in better with the lift, I was thinking 225/70 r16 tyres (39 mm diameter increase) which is far more common and you get more bang for your buck and better clearance to boot.

I'd like to hear feedback from anyone who's running tyres in this size on how it's affected the car. All good? Shot up petrol usage? Handle differently? And also, if anyone's got any tyre recommendations I'm also all ears. The cooper AT3 is probably top of the list, but also interested in Scorpions.

Difference between the stock 235-60-16 and the 225-70-16 is 33mm. They will fit with out any mods.
If you go to a 225-75-16 there are even more sizes available but you may need to do some more lift and/or triming of the inner guards (55mm bigger)


With the small lift your getting then go the 225-70-16. Coopers a good deep tyre. but they can be expensive.

Out of those 2 tyres i'd go with the Yoko's.

I had a 35mm lift and 225/75/16 tyres. No rubbing and no other mods.

Petrol usage theoretically goes up a little, but too little to really notice. No difference in handling on road except for breaking. Bigger tyre in AT weighs more than your standard road tyre, so you'll need a little more braking effort to bring the car to a stop from high speeds. Having said that though it's only a slight difference and you'll soon forget about it.

Thanks for the feedback guys, the 225/70r16's sound like the go.

B4T- I made some enquiries before christmas and the coopers were cheaper than the yokos at that time- which surprised me.
