i have a 98 model lwb vitara and im trying to source new rear brake shoes, but the drum measures to 10 inch, but everyones telling me 1.6s only have 9 inch drums..

confusion!

is it possible that the previous owner did a brake upgrade to the 2.0L brakes? or was the 98 model built with 10 inch drums or something..
going to order 2L shoes now and hope theyre the right ones

There is a lot of confusion with Vitara rear brakes, being 98 you could have anything too

best to take a pair of shoes in to a DECENT parts shop and match them up

they look to have the same wear pattern on both side so i assume it's normal.

i was supplied with N1735 shoes which weren't quite right some of the holes didn't line up & the location of the adjuster wasn't right, took photo's of the original brake shoes & went back to Power Brakes & the right ones which are N1758

hey matey, Take them into Nepean Spares on Glossop St. The guys there are awesome, helpful and most of all best bang for your buck!

they helped me sought out my mess of a rear drum setup

okay so i went to scotts auto1 and they refunded the wrong shoes and have the (hopefully) right shoes on order for monday
gus those ones are exactly what i have on atm, are they the same ones as you got put back in? im pretty sure thats the part number ive got on order now, but ill make sure tomorrow

btw both sides on the rear were $36 for the 9 inch and 49 for 10 inch, sounds pretty bloody good to me

those are the original shoes that came out of my Vitara & got replaced with the N1758 which had all the same cut outs/holes & drum size etc.
