I am going to buy a set of rims for my 93 Sierra in the next couple of weeks.

I have chosen some 31 x 10.5 x 15 tyres to fit to them.

Question.

What width rim should I get, 7 or 8 " ?

What offset should I specify.

I know I am going to end up chopping some guards etc because I will do a full RUF but at this stage some shiny new steelies will make me feel like I am making progress in the build.

I looked through some of the threads but the offset topic is so vague...

7" - No need to go to 8" for 10.5's

I agree that offset is vague. I can't really add much as I don't (and have never) run 7's

Theoretically, you'd want around -14mm to keep the inside edges of the tyres in the same position as standard, and that's where your clearance problems are going to be - against the springs and shock mounts. I think -13 is reasonably easy to get hold of.

I wouldn't exceed about -14 - you will already be gaining 38mm per side + the added tyre width.

I was at Wandin on Sunday and met up with a few of the Vic guys, I am going to try and make it to the Thomson Lake trip and will be there at the next club meet.

I'm thinking of waiting until the new financial year to sign up though :S (cheap eh?)

I've got f100 offset (-23 I think) 15x8's with 31x10.5 KM2's on my 92 sierra.

I'm running a 2 inch body lift and a 2inch spring lift and all I had to do was beat the seam down in the inner front guards. With RUF you wouldn't need to beat the seam. My front springs aren't all that flexy so I didn't need to extend the bumpstops but if it were to fully articulate I would probably have some rubbing issues.

The stance with the -23 offset and 10.5 tyre is awesome to say the least and I'm happy to replace wheel bearings a little more often for the privilege.

I run 31x10.5 kuhmos on 2inch body fit.
Rims are 15x8 with -13 offset
required a little massaging of guards and trimming of front bumper outriggers
