Hey guys,

Any body have any trouble with aftermarket springs where the center bolt thingy lines up with the hole in the axle ??

My bolts are to big and the spring dont sit flush with the u bolt plate, I think I might need to grind them down abit

What do yous think ?

i just fited 2'' lift kings and had to drill the bolt hole a bit bigger for the new leaf spring nut to fit...
if your runin 3'' springs thats a big arc they might not flaten out till you tighten them right up

yous might need to take the bold out and give it a tickle on the grinder

I had to drill mine out to 16mm to clear the bolt and that was it straight in after that

My bolt will fit in the hole easy, its just the thread part witch is to long, I was just gona grind it abit and hope for the best lol

How much thread does a nut need to stay on the bolt ?

But I guess if its bolted up it wouldnt fall off true ?

As long as the nut is fully engaged its generally fine, however (1-2 threads after the nut is probably best as some bolts have the first rotation of thread a bit tapered).

For those in the technical know, Minimal thread engagement lenght is 65% of the nominal diam. For interests sake, the typical standard nut height is 80-90% of the nominal diam. This is for nut and bolt of smame tensile strength.

If you are that worried, you can remove most of it, then hit it with a chisel or punch to bur the end, so the nut wont come off.

Being SUA having the thread be a bit too long isnt really an issue, and gives the standard jack a locating pin, (providing it isnt stupidly long).
I would leave it as it is, providing it just extrudes lower, whilst you determining how many leaves you want.
