just wondering if anyone would know if u can run a 3 speed jimny auto behind a 1600 8v TBI motor? thanks

dont think there is a 3 speed jimny auto
get teh 3 speed from a vit and make up the adaptor to remove the transfer

Jimny auto's are an electronically controlled 4 speed.
To use a Jimny auto, it would require a 1.3 to 1.6 gearbox adapter used "backwards", the Jimny flex plate and converter, and then you'd have to work out how to get it to shift. This isn't impossible, but not necessarily straightforward either.
After all that, you'd end up with an auto that is beyond its rated torque handling capacity. They are also almost impossible to find, definitely impossible to upgrade/strengthen and even harder to repair.
You would be much better off using a 3 or 4 speed vitara auto. There are commercially available fitting kits (Trail tough) and no need for an engine/gearbox adapter. The vitara autos are much stronger than the Jimny auto. Which one to use depends on how much an overdrive is important to you, how hard you want to work to fit it, and if you are willing to do electrical/electronic work to get it to shift. The 3 Speed (trimatic) is vacuum/thottle cable shifted, the AW-4 is more complex and requires a transmission control computer.

TBI motors in Japan/USA used a variant of the Trimatic - a TH-180C, which has a lockup torque converter. (These frequently fail)
If you explained a bit more about what you wanted to achieve, I could offer some more advice. I've fitted Trimatics, a Jimny auto, and I'm now doing an AW-4 in my car.
A trimatic isn't really very much work.

its a trailerd comp basher thing  youll get a trimatic in there, you only need to hang a bearing off the back of the auto and make a jackshaft

yea its for a suzuki buggy, do they need electrics to work or can u manual shift them with the selector on the side?

When you remove the vitara transfer case the output shaft of the vitara auto is exactly the same spline as a sierra manual jackshaft slip yoke, however, the output shaft of the auto isn't bearing supported (that's done by the transfer case) so a bearing has to be pressed into the back of the auto to support the sierra slip yoke. This is a photo of the back of a trimatic that has had the vitara transfer removed and a cover plate with bearing and seal fitted. Since doing this, we worked out that this wasn't necessary and a bearing and seal could use be pressed into the back of the auto case.
