I see this topic has generated a fair bit of interest so I thought I would add to it....
I've been trialing a prototype Heim spacer and just thought I would post a few pics here for comments/ideas..... No Bagging thanks as it's a work in progress....

even though there is no shotty welds on this one you still have the problem of leverage. If you replaced the four long bolts with 8 short ones it would be a lot better

everyone knows pretty well I think spacers in general are absolutely stupid and wrong and shit and bad and so far nobody has been able to prove to me what they do to suspension geometry

I would be inclined to use much heavier wall RHS as there is still going to be a lot of load running down each outer edge of it, the centre stuff is only really stopping the bolts crushing it

oh and previous comments about bolts bending still stand with that, 2 separate lots would be better

why arent you budding fabricator flex queens not making up new arms with real Heims or at least a swivel block setup? going to be a lot less deadly

honestly i would much rather see 'good quality' spacers being used rather than people fabbing up their own arms. royce is right, two sets of bolts would be better as this part deals with axle wrap and torque loadings, which is not something you want on a long shank bolt. that said the ball joint sytem the o.e uses is the best, seen way too many heim or rose joints shatter or wear quickly and not all authorities will pass 'twist' joints.

Excuse my ignorance Joe , but what does O.E system stand for .??

And Royce , have you changed anything in that area on your Vitara, or does it still remain standard??
I think the suspension geometry question needs to be discussed further , so people know what else should be considered when they do " a simple " 30 - 50mm lift. The brake adjustment valve is something I'm sure alot of people don't think to adjust as well .
I suppose what I'm asking is there a comprehensive check list on the forum somewhere that you can refer to when modifying your vechile.

SP1086 is the only one I've seen whose done that and it looks very involved. Are there any others that you know off that can be looked at.
What ever way you go , that ball joint needs something doing with when a suspension is done .
