As the title states I am having the 4WD light problems. I first noticed it when i was driving around 2H and the light was then finally it went off after i restarted the car. now the 4WD light seems to always come on when im using something power related like power windows, indicators even brakes so i thought there must be a faulty connection somewhere. but then i found my biggest problem which is when i turn my aircon on the light comes on but the aircon doesnt and when the light turns off the aircon comes on. so im little bit stumped at the moment, also the light doesnt come on when I engage it into 4L or 4h but it is engaged ahah sorry if that didnt make sense

mate, you are right, you have a short circuit somewhere.
All i can say is whip out the multimeter and get a wiring diagram for your car and start testing pin-to-pin. but more importantly, test pin to earth or pin to OTHER pins that it shouldnt be connected to.... eventually you will find the wire that is shorted and you can start excavating to find out where it is shorted.

Its unfortunatley a slow process. but luckily your 4wd light should only be a short run of only a few wires so shouldnt be too hard to find where its buggered.

not something i can say "HEY ITS THAT" on a forum.

PS write down/draw what things have continuity and what doesnt... will help you build a mind-map of whats going on.

i had some wires melt together years ago when water got behind the dash from having the window vent blocked up... melted the fuse box and took a few wires with it which caused all sorts of weird... the ones that melted were all taped together, so obviously the heat built up and away it went... no fire luckily.
