Can someone who knows Plasma cutters & speaks fluent moron tell me how to operate one please?????
I had my first attempt today & totally rooted one tip in about 5 mins........

im no professional!!
but there are a few factors that come into plazma cutting
what thicness material where you cutting? not over5mm
i take it yours is single phase
was the material clean? not painted or rusty needs a good earth and cut area
does your tips have grooves in them to let the air pass through on start up?(where they clogged) the two types that i have used one with the grooves the tip needs to earth directly on the job and needs to be clean to work well but the other type i have used the tip needs to float above the material about 1mm off
another factor is air not enough can result in poor and no cutting and too much can result in a wide and eratic cut

will get a pic of a new tip (which has a cross on it) & the tip I mutilated.
If anyone has an idea of PSI for air flow & that sort of stuff as well it will help.


Thanks for the tips as well I might add, I wastrying to blast through painted suzuki shell & made a mess in general.

the paint is your main problem id say on zook steel as in panels about 15-20 psi but as i said im no pro! but the best way to learn is to jump right in (i think) sand a small area back to bare metal and put your earth clamp on that then sand where you want to cut. if your cutting a piece that isnt the best ive learnt to use a small hand smooth half round file to keep the tip nice and clean and use the edge to clean out the cross grooves.also if you are cutting out car panels ive learned the hard way not to cut through the braized joins with thongs on

i've just cut all this stuff of an 80 diff without a problem with the tip, and i left the paint on the surfaces. i'll have a look at my air settings tommorow and post em up.

Ive had issues also with a borrowed one went through so many tips I gave up.
