Can anyone tell me if they are any tricks to removing the trim around the radio, heater controls, clock??

YES... There are a few tricks.

The best trick is knowing what sort of car you are dealing with.

Yeah realised after I posted, was for 91 WT Sierra but didn't end up removing it, just worked around it
