Hi my 1992 LWB Vitara's 4WD light stays on when the hubs are unlocked and the transfer case is in 2WD. Is this car smart enough to tell me there is an error with my 4wd system or is it more likelly to be the fault with the switch in the transfer case itself?

It'll be the switch. I don't think there is any diagnostic type stuff for the transfer.

the light on my sierra had always been on for the 3 years I owned it, you could try unplugging it and if it turns off its probably a stuck switch

GV's do some fancy stuff with teh light if the pump detects the front diff isnt engaing (by building pressure in the line but thats about it

thats a sticky tape fix mate, a bit of lecky tape on the light
and then you cant see it. i own a mitsubishi you see, they have lots
off flashing lights.

hahahahaha @ shep, a mates got a mi-shits-a-bitsy paj. and is always whinging about the 4x4 light flashing.. i got a heap of info about how to fix it but ya know how it goes.. a few brews get sunk n it becomes a project for another day...(off memory its just a plug error but need to drop all the covers etc underneath)

Thanks for the info, I didnt think it was that smart. Now will go looking for the switch, does any one no where it is located?
