Hey guys,
So i'get bought new shocks struts springs and some Camber bolts for a 2" lift and I'm wondering if there are any posts on here or good YouTube videos that would show me how to install the kit?

It's not that hard
For the back jack the car up put stands under the chassis
Take off tire
put jack under diff
Unbolt shock
The diff should drop enough to pull spring out and put new one in
Might need to stand on diff to get it to go down enough
Jack up diff
Bolt shock back in and repeat other side
The front
Jack up put stands under chassis
Take off wheels
Jack under arm
Take the weight up on the jack
Un do brake line off strut
Un bolt strut
Let the jack down and pull out the spring
Replace new spring
Bolt new strut in with camber bolt (top bolt I think)
Jack up arm and bolt top of strut in
Put brake line back on strut
Repeat for other side
Drop car back on wheels
Drive the car straight for a few meters
Use a good level on the side of the tire
Turn camber bolt till tire is level
Tighten it up
Check toe in with a tape measure
Take it down to get a wheel alignment done

just to add, for the rear don't take the wheel off as you can use it for more leverage. jack one side up at a time, i find it easier.

- remove rear shocks (easy as, just look at it)
- jack up one side as high as possible and place a stand under it
- push down on wheel at same time reach in and remove spring.
- put new spring in, may have to push down on wheel.
- do other side
- remove jack and stand
- put new rear shocks in.

for the front do the drivers side first as its harder.
it's not overly difficult just a pain in the arse.
just some pointers.
- remove sway bar all together (has to be undone anyway) and store in garage (i did this when i had my vitara, no noticeable difference unlike my GV)
- need to undo the passenger side axle. 3 bolts.
- drivers side the axle might slide out of the diff, it can be a pain to get back in sometimes. otherwise pull the hub off and take clip off.
- if you didn't get longer struts flip the strut mount, easy to a basic flip, or you can remove the bolts from the strut mount and put it under the strut tower as per original location just upside down

if you go this far you should spend another $100 and get some spring spacers 15/30mm.

Diff will not drop if there is a stand under it... Shouldn't stand be under chassis?

No stand under diff, just jack so you can control it as needed to get springs out then shock bolt holes lines back up. Stands should definitely be under chassis!


I've done the front four times now, never had to undo or remove hubs/CVs. The driver's one slides around a bit, just keep an eye on it and make sure it doesn't come all the way out.

With my 3" Calmini springs/arms I had to undo tie rods as well, but didn't for the first 40mm lift I did. Undoing swaybar makes things much easier, but I've always bolted mine back up.

Strut mount flip and spacers depends on how much lift you want... if you get spacers do the mount flip, and make sure your shocks are long enough to work with the extra height or it's kind of pointless. If you're going that far maybe look at a spacer for the rear diff ball-joint too.

What parts have you bought? OME? Dobinsons? Ironman?

I bought a 50mm dobson kit. do you wreckon the shocks would take the extra spacers? thanks guys!

I live in Adelaide, but im pretty sure I'll be right cos i've got a friend that can help. But thanks anyway I may take you/someone else up on their offer though if I get stuck, thanks mate =D

Its super easy.....depends what day your doing it, but I can swing by..Had mine in and out a few times now......... gus lives the otherside of town so depends where u are. one of us might be able to come look and help out.

Hard to say about shock lengths hypothetically - depends on where the car sits normally with original gear compared to lifted. Dank might be able to help... get some measurements of the new shocks (or find some on here somewhere) and see how much longer they are than standard.

I'm on the east side, more than happy to drop in & give you a hand. the back end will take 27 minutes max & the front we should be able to bowl over in an hour and a bit.
