Yeah I took a leaf out of each pack, it lost a little but of height but it's so much softer and flexier (if that's a word haha) now. I run 2" extended shackles too and it all works together pretty well

31's no gearing and a g16b. Depends what ya drive. The setup mentioned works boss for me. No rocks up here or tall technical trails.

31's without gearing will suck no matter what you drive or where you live.
I drove a G16B Sierra on 30's from Cairns to Maroochydore (1800km) and it wasn't too bad in high, a lot of revs and dump the clutch to take off but had SFA lowrange unless you slipped crap out of the clutch. That doesn't last long.

31's without gearing is about the equivalent of a stock car without using first or second gear.

Disagree. Unless I've got some secret 200kw motor or special gearing. 31s and stock stuff works. I can take off in first, put my foot to the floor and I get chirps and mad acceleration. It's actually scary on dirt. Put ya foot down and ya lock to lock trying to straighten up. Got bogged yesterday. Four wheel low was perfect and worked for what I wanted to do. Curious as to why your cars are gutless. :/

That's all well and good, but now go drive a rock step that bigger than 300mm without ridng the clutch or hitting it at a 1000000kph

Haha only reason why i dont complain about 31s and stock gearing is because ive never tried anything else, plus i know when i get a taste of it ill give it about a fortnight before i go "fuck this" and loss $800 out of the savings account...

But hey, atleast id have some new gears

Mine is G16b powered and on 30's. While I was waiting for my 4.9's to rock up it was just running stock gearing. Yes I could still cruise at 100KPH but even the G16 isn't happy at just over 3k with that amount of wind resistance to push. Yes it did still accelerate from 100 in 5th but it was fairly slooooooooooow and painful. Again even 4th was the gear to be in as the 1.3 with stock gearing and bigger tires on the highway.

Offroad was pretty lame also. Something like 10kph minimum speed in first low on idle with the clutch fully engaged. I would hate to see the punishment your clutch got if you were indeed proper bogged even in sloppy mud and tried to get out.

Load the Sierra down with 2 passengers +_driver, and bit of... say hiking gear for the day. Your clutch won't be so happy.

I don't think people realize the weight difference between a Sierra that is almost stock and empty, compared to one with custom steel bumpers, sliders and a bit of a cage....Or shoot just a Sierra that does not get cleaned out often and has a bit of crap in the back.

Just a couple of Steel bumpers will have you feeling the power drain. There is also a big difference between a street tires, and a muddy or M/T. Just a few pounds per tire is enough to make the Sierra feel way under powered.

It really does lol. I am so used to calling mine a Samurai, or a Zook it does not come naturally for me at all.

It still makes me think of Nevada and the sierra Nevada mountains every time I see/type the name.

Well i fitted 30's the other day to my stock sierra with sagged springs (which appear to have moved the diff forward a bit)

I had to trim the side of the bumper bar to clear them, but not remove the outriggers.
the clearance while fully flexed appears ok, with the axle pulling up on the bumpstop about 4mm before the tire hits the guard under the flares.

31's would have needed some hammering/bump stop spacing, and the removal of the bumper mounts.
with 5.14 transfer gears and 30's the gearing seems like stock. 31's would, for my taste, move the high range gearing enough to be annoying.
