i did a bit of touch of the underbody/chassis with some killrust epoxy enamel last Sunday. I inspected the job today and noticed that most of the paint had dried but one or two stops were still sticky. the car has been under cover but I am assuming the stickiness is because the we have some much humidity and rain in Brisbane over the last week.

I was planning on spraying the underbody/chasis tomorrow with Lanolin as i am heading over to Fraser for Easter. i gave the underbody a bit of a brush with water and car wash to remove any remaining dirt and hosed everything off late this afternoon. I gave the car a 15 min drive to try and dry off the water. After the drive i noticed that most of the water has dried off but there is still some wet surfaces and some extra spots where the new paint is now tacky.

I wanted to spray the Lanolin tomorrow to give it time to dry before fraser, but i am assuming it is also not good to spray over tacky paint as it may trap in moisture which may cause the same rust as i am trying to prevent plus it may make the Lanolin take to long to dry which will may mean sand getting all stuck to it also not good for rust preventention

Any advise?

Lanolin makes sand stick to anything, I recommend not using it on the underbody at all

I'd lay money on the sticky patches being where you have sprayed over an oil based paint or body deadener the solvent in the killrust has loosened the old stuff up.

Don't stress about it. Wait another couple of days.
Spray with whatever and then go for a drive on a dry dirt road to put a sealing layer on everything so sand doesn't stick.

I'd be spraying it with Fish Oil and Not lanolin mate. Fish Oil will dry and penetrate the steal molecules and stop the rust forming. Easy to apply and will not attract sand.
