I often tow around 750 kgs behind both of our Jimnys,
1 runs a g16b with 31s and a heap of extra weight. The other an m15a with 31s
The g16 is much better below 4000 rpm but anything over and it dies off compared th the m15.
Both running after market exhausts which made a massive improvement.
To be honest swap the engine and u will notice a great increase
Expecially on small tires. And an engine number change
Is all that's needed to have the vehicle licenced with bigger motor. Providing its still the same series of motor.

Not much you can do then. No one makes performance parts for an M13 its the most non-performance engine any tuning company could imagine.

As said, exhaust manifolds come up on ebay regularly and any decent garage should be able to fit you up with the manifold back performance exhaust - although they will likely actually add an extra muffler to keep the noise down with a 2 inch system for example, and it's hit and miss wether a performance cat will meet emmisions, but no-one ever checks anyway. You might get the engine light from you o2 sensor.

Cams- nothing you can do since you have VVT anyway.

stick in a performance air filter and maybe a snorkel and thats probably that. increase in power so low probably not need to be engineered - check your local rules, but on the other hand you'd be messing with your emmisions system so I reckon strictly speaking it should be engineered, but thats for you to argue with compliance. Just make sure you fit a performance Cat rather then remove the Cat altogether.

I reckon you'd see maybe 2-3hp more with that lot and a $1200 hole in your pocket, $800 without the snorkle.

That's power anyway. You are asking for torque so it's wheel size and gearing as discussed by the more knowledgable people on the forum. Instant torque. Stick on some little wheels when you go towing.

I'll be getting a exaust and extractors. All ready got performance filter. Snorkel is on my wish list tyres and gearing also on my to do list. I'm not vvt btw

Yep! Someone on the forum has done it with a m18a. Of the top of my head he was making around 160BPH at the wheel's on 30's

I agree that this makes the rule seem a bit pointless. Any big aussie 6 fits into here plus a whole heap of other very quick cars, yet a turbo Jimny is too dangerous???

Well I guess any Big Aussie 6 handles about 3 times better then a Jimny as well. It just seems that this rule casts an unfavourable shadow over modified cars as per usual! Since I drive a modified I'd prefer if laws didn't make modified cars seem to be less safe. Even if that's true it's just the perception it gives that your modified vehicle is less 'safe' to the squares and the lentil brigade.
