I have been thinking of somehow converting the soft top 96 sierra into a hard top .I have just recieved a quote of $2,500 not including fitting from 3xm in parramatta nsw for a fibreglass top .
After waking up I thought i would ask around if this is a harsh price or what Im going to up for .I have also wondered if there is a way to weld an original hard top on to my bus ?

Look for a used top. Should get one for around $500 or less.

As for the welding question, just buy a cheap hard top sierra with a good tub, and swap the body over. Way cheaper and easier!

Nah, a fibreglass one will be cheaper and definatly not 2.5k.
Look for second handys, on here, ebay, gumtree etc

Thats what they cost mate. And since they stopped making them MANY years ago, the cost went up.
