Hey everyone,

Im thinking about putting in an sports/racing aftermarket seat so i dont get thrown around as much when off road. Ive done a bit of research but I've heard a few different things about installing them. I was just wondering if anyone on the forum has sports seats and what they had to do to fit them?

Coily.

I think you going to have to search coily specific, I think they have slightly different seat mounts to the more common sj50/70

A mate has put in gti seats, so they could be an option, not sure what he did though..

Coily's are a bit harder to install seats into, as the rail arrangement is different to leaf sierras.

no big deal mate.
just check the local fab shops, had custom rails made for my old zook, and mod plated, didnt cost heaps.

I fitted some mkII swift gti seats into my coily not too long ago. All that was required was a bit of trimming to the original rails to flatten them, then bolting on some 50x50 or 50x75 3mm angle. This will give you a solid base to fit new seats.

Having said all of this, I highly recommend that you talk to an engineer to work out what is required to have it mod plated. Then I would look for seats that 1) you find comfortable and 2) have roughly the same dimensions as the original seats before doing any work.

I just remember you made some seat rails/adjustements....im sure you could fab something up for the coily's too

Fuck that.

I've done 3 sets for coily now, but they have all required custom mounts. I have not yet come up with a 'universal' mount that would work for them.

The seats from my Mini(and they aren't large!!) don't physically fit in the cab (well, not in a way you can sit in them anyway), let alone trying to fit stuff to the mounts.

Hehe, yeah, there's getting them in and then getting them mounted.

The Vit mounts are completely illogical - inside is up on the tunnel about 90mm higher than the outside, front bolts are on a 45deg slope, inside and outside are very different bolt spacing...

Having fun with that at the moment...
