I'm thinking of buying a jimny and I'm just wondering if they are good 4wd to buy

yes mate jimnys are a great 4wd.... only look into sierras if u re thinking to do/build/wheel something extreme.... if not they re just fine...... so different from a sierra that if u are actually thinking about it u already made the choice

Its not a Sierra v Jimny debate at all.

If you want a comfy, practical DD that will get you out there. a Jimny would be the better option.

If its a bush only thing that will drive up trees backwards go for a Sierra.

Just like comparing a patrol to a commodore. They suit different needs.

plus they re a tad bigger, newer (so rust-free ones available), and the most important difference of all... they are a hardtop!!!

so unless u like a softtop and love to get wet when it rains, get shit stolen from your car, doggy loking see trough plastic as windows (depending of how new is ur top or the quality of it), be able to remove it, get a "convertible" during hot days and summer, be able to get different arrangements of tops, ect u can get all that in a sierra (or even a hardtop too if ur lucky nough to find one in good condition)

like I said... they re so different thats no really much point to debate on them..... when I bough mine that was the main reason... a newer car, hardtop and efi.. a/c

jimmys could do that too.... ask monley.... but its a matter of budget... how much u have to build wht you want... and if u care to damage, scratch ect a 2000$ car or a 12000$ one

I took my stock jimny and sons stock vitara swb out for some Easter fun along with brothers Navara( lift kit, tyres, winch) and mates LR Discovery with lift, tyres, winch and I was amazed that the bazookies went everywhere the full sized trucks went! The vitara had some clearance issues and wearing road radials suffered a bit in the muddy spots but apart from that all was fine, after the size issue jokes both the brother and mate were highly impressed with the capabilities of both zukies off and on road. Can't wait to get all the goodies on both suzukis and test to their limits.
We were staying at Steve Norway and tackled Monkey Gum rd and all surrounding areas, had some steep terrain with lots step ups and weird angles few creek crossings/mud bogs etc etc. I have no idea how hectic it was in relation to other places but it definitely made my wife get out of the car screaming a few times!
