GV squeal

The GV has developed a squealing sound (like a belt slipping) with the a/c on, sometimes it makes the noise sometimes it doesn't
I've had a quick look and can't see where the p/s or a/c can be adjusted, is the a/c & p/s belt adjustable on the 2.5 SQGV or do they have a belt tensioner thingo?

AC belt adjustment is on the idler pulley. There are two bolts through the centre, one is in a round hole, the other slotted. There is also a hexagonal hole that takes an large Allen key.

Loosen off the bolt in the slot. Loosen the other bolt just a little.
Adjust the position of the idler with the Allen key.
Retighten bolts.

There isn't much room to get your hands down behind the radiator, but it can be done.
It takes plenty of tension on belt to stop the slip, it doesn't have much wrap around the AC pulley.

Cheers mate ill have a go at that tomorrow arvo, i tried getting my hand in there but couldn't so ill take the fan off first

Both my cars are idler pulley for PS belt tension and adjust the AC compressor for AC belt tension. maybe a two beer job.

If its a pain in the ass to do, chuck a new belt on it, if its stretched enough to squeal itll be rooted soon anyway

you're right its the alt that has the separate belt. so yeah it's just the idler puller.

Put a new belt on and all good till five mins later and a little bit of a squeal came back when under load with a/c on

nowhere near as bad as what it was though
Ill have another go at it in the morning with a longer allen key for more leverage

Fyi, some belts tell you to install the belt and tension. Run for 5 minutes and retension.
