need to top up my oils in my gearbox and transfer case in my jimny. transfercase will be easy as ill just fill it through the top of the gear stick hole, but im puzzled, how im going to fill the gearbox up with oil. i cant seem to find were the filling hole is on the box, and cant fill it from the top because jimny gearbox have linkages not a stick straight in the top. is it the bung thats on the side of the gearbox were the gear stick linkages enters into the gearbox?. what is the easiest to fill the gearbox? a pump would be handy, but i only have a funnel and hose cheers

(mine is a 01 non vvt m13) so yes that is the plug Edit: it should have a square in the plug where a 3/8 drive ratchet will fit. be careful not to round it

3/8 drives can round the plug as it is a 10mm square adapter you need to fit tight

Just weld a M24 bolt to it Also, your local bolt shop should have giant sump plugs. My Tcase takes a 27mm socket to undo

I have been wondering the same thing. Also about the transfer case (no gear stick hole), as I've not tried yet.

I bought my 10mm square tool from ebay for about $10. Turns out the other end has hex bits on it which actually annoying as I had already shelled out much more for the hex set I have for the same purpose on my old car.

Like so. This will also work for 10mm square plugs... viewtopic.php?f=5&t=10660

I have a 2009 VVT and the filler plug on the 5 speed manual box is on the passengers side almost directly above the cat convertor. It has a 10mm square plug and is really hard to get to. I got the dealer to replace my transmission oil and even they got heaps on the cat convertor.
