my spottys stop working the other day n when i looked at the fuse the plastic cases around the fuse had melted wat could be a cause of this bcoz i dont want it happening again

That's about the worst option he could take. I hate self resetting breakers with a passion.

The whole point of circuit protection is to cut power when there is a fault. The very last thing you want is the thing to reset and apply power again whilst there is a fault. The potential problem could possibly lead to an electrical fire.

Then it will short out again. They are thermal so they don't just self reset in two seconds, they take time. There is also manaul reset versions.

With spotlights you get the poops when they keep cutting on and off then you fix it.

And whilst you're merrily bopping along down the road it's still tripping out and resetting whilst you're blissfully unaware.

I know how they work, i also know how they cause bigger problems.

Manual reset is perfect it forces you to deal with the problem, auto is crap.

check that ur wiring is corrct size etc also so u don't end up worse. auto resets are ok, they will also force u to fix the problem as they will be off more then on. if the original fuse holder was a good one there may be problems elsewhere.

Look for corrosion on the terminals.

Corrosion causes high resistance, high resistance plus high current causes heat.
