33.5 would probably be a 255/85-16 which they do make a couple of tyres in (bighorn and creepy).
Just want to find out if they are making/ going to make them in the sticky compound. I somehoe doubt a phone call to Maxxis Australia will help much.....

nup - its far more of an all rounder than a mud only tyre, so in my book its an AT. A simex ET is a mud tyre... IMO, MT is "Maximum Traction" not "Mud Terrain"...

that maxxis is the replacement for the older bighorn muddie( one of the best reasonably road capable mud tyres you can buy) they are still running them side by side due to the popularity of the older design.

the kl71 are a nice mud terrain for the road and pretty good off road, but the maxxis is a better tyre when it all turns to shit. the kumo are better on road however.

Ive run all the above tyres several times , and spend my weeks driving and dragging equipment through muddy farms and building sites. and I'm pretty sure alien has not run the maxxis or that would be all we heard about

i wanted the 764's when i bought the KL71... the 764 werent available at the time though, so i went with the KL71 instead. I love the KL71s but im still keen to try the 764 myself. My recommendation was done based on past research i did. How that is seen to be dribbling shit i dont know.

MT is for Mud Terrain. It means chunky, open pattern tread.

Your theory that MT means Maximum Traction, depends on the style, what terrain you choose, compound, etctectec

eg. A MT is not Maximum traction on a road circuit, A slick is.

i never said i was searching for the "perfect tyre" - thats why im now running 2 sets, and i tested the two in the same conditions to decide the best to run in each situation. After being called "full of shit" i justified my recommendation with relevant information... i never resorted to name calling or accusations like others are.

My argument was that the 764 IN MY OPINION is an all terrain and not a MUDDIE... because it will perform well on most surfaces. Where as a road only tyre isn't going to work well in the mud, just like an all out muddie like a simex ET wont work all that well on the road (and i've driven on both tyres, so this is first hand experience not dribble).

As for what MT stands for - it can be both, and i was using it in terms of the topic at hand, i clearly wasnt referring to drag racing.
