I am looking for a flare or new guard to allow my new 7.50/16's to run without interference. Does anyone know of any of these... Where can I find them to purchase? Some time ago I saw a blue jimny pictured in snow country with oversized flares that looked to be modelled on the original jimny design. Anyone seen them?

Dark green and silver ones look like moulded peices for the body?
Dont mind the first ones though to be honest!

First one looks horrible IMO. Second one looks like to be fibreglass or moulded into the original guard. Fibreglass = brittle. The defender flare that I seen Blakey putting on his Jimny looked pretty good.

Not all fibreglass is brittle, many different compounds are available that are actually extremely flexibleand will bend a long way without cracking. In the end it is to cover tyres, just like a metal guard it will get damaged when it hits something and will have to be repaired.

Yea that's true. But I wouldn't want to repair a flare ever time I go out wheeling. The stock flares will last alot longer then a fiberglass one IMO. Plastic is heaps stronger. Was just thinking, if DBOR would design some Jimny flares.

Was just thinking, if DBOR would design some Jimny flares. DBOR didn't design the sierra flares they sell They bought the old Calmini moulds, and have them manufactures by BOSS in VIC. Everytime I've spoken to DBOR i've gotten the distinct impression that they know very little about the product and processes involved in making them. And they DO break! Mine were damaged (torn) through the mounting flange BEFORE I recieved them

If u had a mould u could make fiberglass flares for ur self for less the $100 I recon There not that big so u wouldn't need much material The thiner u make it the more flex it will have We used to take fiberglass kayaks to do white water rivers I think most mass produced flares would be made pretty cheap and crapy With a chopper gun The ones I had on a 60 series were

Yes, I think the Green and silver ones are fibreglass panels. I have seen KAP ones on Jimnys in the UK but they did not answer their phone oir reply to emals 2 years ago when I last tried. Some more Defender flares would be ok, but I would rather not have external fixings... Might have to get some dimensions for these... ABS flares for Defender 90/110 from mm-4x4. Might have to ask for some dimensions for these... Came across this in my research. I would like a closer look at those flares.

I don't think "looks" can be worried about on bugsta's, no point putting a "good" looking flare on it. just saying

Had another look at the KAP website just this afternoon.
I have just had a conversation with somebody who offered me to take a mould of his KAP guards. That would make damaging a guard a lot cheaper to replace. He also suggested GRP, which I will look into.

There is another I have seen on some site in snow country. The flares are modeled onthe original Jimny design but are wider and a more square arch shape. Its a blue Jimny with silver flares. Anyone seen these?

Blakey, very nice, and crazy chrome plates, but no. They look just like others tha have been posted. As I said, they look a lot like the Jimny original shape, but larger wheel openings of course. So they look the business.
From memory I think the car is blue and the flares are silver.

How much width do they add compared to WT Jimny flares though? Many of the japanese flares are for 660cc Jimny's, which don't have any flares at all stock. Bear in mind that Japanese workshop/panel shop time is very expensive - It's unlikely any of those flares offer any more than stock tyre clearance ( i.e there's little scope to cut behind them) because the japanese market isn't big on paying to cut guards - they are more into bolt in lift to clear tyres. Steve.

I know, and yep they might end up having the same width as the WT jimnys, but they do have a bigger wheel arch, and I think thats soomething that most of us are looking for including bugsta as u say japs NT dnt have flares, so the wheel arch is bigger, they dnt have all the plastic and metallic flares we WT do that makes our wheel arches tinny, hence why so many ppl cut them up and some do the "bigjimny" flare cut according to my link, they sell some basic ones that cover 30mm, and 60mm.... I think the ones I show there have 70mm, doesnt really say it. but the ones more square shape, shown in the black jimny they cover over 90mm.... I dnt know how much our WT factory ones cover but its not that much, so some of these would work..... or if u want they sell an oversize square ones like the black jimny that cover 140mm

Would a tube flare be better? I have seen how you drive in your vids......
I thought I saw a Sierra build that used steel tube to make the arch then plated steel over the top, would stand up to some of the punishment You give your jimny.
