Hi Folks,

I currently have a G13BB installed in my sierra with all the wiring and computer for the Jimny.

My plan is to bench-build a complete G16B (Baleno) motor with Jimny Intake Manifold (plumbing fix) and then basically have a plug and play swap over.

I don’t have access to a G13BB head. I am not going to disassemble my current motor.

I have a few questions that I was hoping someone might be able to answer:

I believe the cam shaft is different (cam gear ‘teeth’ number) between the Baleno and Jimny. Rather than using a Jimny G13BB head, can I:
a. Use the Jimny sensor with the Baleno cam?
b. Use the Baleno cam sensor with the Jimny wiring / computer? Do the signals match?

Or do I really just need to get a Jimny Cam to fix the issue?

Even if the number of teeth are different, the thing youll need to check is if the way the other end of the cam drives the sensors is different

I would imagine that with the Baleno having a seperate Crank sensor and the G13bb having all that inside the cam sensor that the sensors would differ

There's a kind of "hybrid" which has the coil packs mounted off the end of the block (not on the top of the rocker like a Jimny) and I think they don't have the crank sensor.

Just check the end of the cam shaft on both models. You will more than likely find that the CAS gear is a press on job for both engines. If this is the case you can swap the gear over but bear in mind that you will have to make sure you 'clock' or position it correctly as there is usually no keyway to locate the gear so it is timed correctly.

For it to be driven correctly by the BB ECU all you need to use is the Jimny cam gear. Any other sensor is not required.

Sorry Royce - I've been typically unclear with my lack of tech-speak - it is the 'teeth count' on the cam sensor end that is different.

i.e. Jimny has 2, but baleno has 6 (i think??).

Joe has referred to it as the CAS (Crank Angle Sensor?) in his post.
