Hey guys, Driving to work today, my engine light come up on dash - thats happens every so often, but usually sorts its self out. Today was diffrent tho. It started flashing, then it would stop flashing, then start again. Anyone have any idea what could be causing the flashing engine light? It had the EGR vavle replaced about 2 months ago and that's what making it throw errors codes before Could the vavle be fuked again? It also had a slightly rough idle and is using a shit load more fuel than usal aswell I can't get the car to Suzuki for a couple of weeks as I'm out on site and need my car. Cheers.

could be a problem with the mass airflow sensor as a similar thing happens to my other car when i get that sensor wet as its a hot filament, and if it get wet or dirty it cant get as hot as it should telling the ECU it has allot more air then it really does so it ups the fuel to keep the air fuel ratio correctish, and can cause a large increase of fuel and rough idle. it would be easy to fix if the sensor isn't broken, just clean it. (but id look it up first i believe you have to use metho or similar)
another problem might be the idle bypass valve in the throttle body (if the jimny has it? im not sure.) but if it was that i cannot see why it would cause an increase of fuel

jimny_timmy wrote: Did you count the flashes? Yep...but that was a fail, cus it would flash 20 times, then it would go solid for 10seconds, then flash 3 time's, then go solid for 1 min, then it would go away, then it would flash 8 times etc.... I used about 18 Liter's of fuel in less than 120km's tonight

I think the plugs are in different spot's, cus i looked a while ago for it, but had no luck using his picture.

the plug is smallish & will be accessible.... it's only a small car, checked the engine bay? will have a squarish rubber dust/water cover over it.

The car is booked in on Monday to get looked at. Suzuki said if the engine light start's flashing and doesn't stop. Pull over and get the car towed home, cus some thing is about to let go

Pull over and get the car towed home, cus some thing is about to let go The engine isn't going to explode or anything like that, the flashing light is really an EOBD/OBD2 requirement to stop you from polluting the planet. You shouldn't run it like that though because when the vehicle goes into fail safe mode or limp mode it tends to run quite rich - if it is run like that for very long the cat will be ruined and washing of the bores could cause dilution of the oil and accelerated engine wear.

The Jimny's are all OBD-I and not OBD-II. I went through this a while back and got the pin outs from Suzuki as well for my 2009 model. So if you are looking for a reader use the older OBD model as the OBD-II may not work.
