Here's my question. I'm happy to accept that Fatzook is correct, but I've never seen or heard of a single car. I can't believe I've never come across another one, read a review in the 80's from a 4WD mag, seen one on a price list or ever seen one advertised for sale.

This board has nearly 5000 members, surely, someone has or had one if they were ever sold.

Here's the weird variants I am aware of, for reference.

High roof WT (NSW/Ateco only AFAIK) never seen one other than in a Overlander article.
SWB Styleside ute (there's one beside my shed right now, complianced as a carry van!
WT LWB (NSW/Ateco only AFAIK) not common outside of NSW.

I have heard that there was a factory TBI injected coil sierra, and a coil sierra with factory power steer, but I've never seen one, and these were mixed in with the "surf" limited edition that had chrome wheels. Has anyone seen a factory TBI or power steer coiler?

Can anyone shed any light on any of this stuff?

Please note I'm looking for proof - i.e you own/owned one, or have a brochure or something, not "my mates roommates cousin said he had one but I never saw it" type of thing.

Just posted in the other thread.

The import half cut SJ80 had a G13BA 16v MPFI motor, 3speed auto, power steer and A/C.

I have personally seen an Aussie SJ80 with factory auto (no idea if it had O/D or not)

And I have seen a WT with factory auto, but can't be sure it wasn't an import Jimny JA11.

I'm aware of those variants in Japan, but that leaves one Aussie WT auto. Surely there was more than one?

I saw a Blue Coily with factory power steering. When I was in the market for a Sierra a few years ago I went and had a look at this one. He was the original owner and selected the option.

From that, I assumed it was an option across the board that every one cheaped out on bar a few.

SWB ute... There is a white one in Nambour with the fibreglass cab back and all.
WT LWB... Not that rare.. I owned 3 at one stage, still got 1.
I know of another dozen or so just in S.E QLD.


Never seen a coily with PS.. Even the "Surf" specials.
Never ever seen or heard of a Sierra automatic.
Never seen TBI in a coily. Only ever import Vits and US Samurai's.

I seen one TBI coily, a pommy guy that had'nt been out 4wding much came down a couple of times to the quarry. Never saw him again, he was a member on 4wdaction and it was back in 2005-2006.

G-Wagen is talking about Sierra WT LWBs, not Marutis. If you had 3, you were doing very well. There were exactly 26 WT LWB Sierras sold by the Ateco network in NSW in the first half of 1988, and only 12 WT Hi-Roofs.

I've seen 2 of these to my memory. 1 was a pale bronze coloured like thing, in Ipswich at a train station a few years ago; the other was that light blue colour and I saw it in Indooroopilly (western Birsbane) about 5 years or so ago whilst I was on a bus. No pictures sorry, and I can't recall if they were an "88.5" style or more typical WT style.

Seen at least 3 WT LWB Sierras (not Marutis).

Only other odd Sierra stuff I have really seen much of first hand is the massive bluring of the model change over "lines".... early WT's late NT's etc etc




I'd like to know more about this thing though! (factory?... photochop?)

I have also sighted a few WT LWB Styleside Soft top 1.3 Suzuki Sierras, one I used to see at the train station all the time is what swayed me to my first one over a Subaru

there are heaps of variations and various countrys that made sierras. The list would be huge.

Pete the Jap importers bought is some stuff we didn't get, if that auto suzuki sierra you saw in Brisbane it may have been the one that came in through All Auto Imports at Albion, he got two of them about 10 years back, he also got a couple of 2 stroke sierra, we went and had a look at them but he wanted too much. I posted a pic last year of an import one I saw at Straddie with the turbo 550cc engine.

He had a few parts in the container as well and I got a couple of top loader type 2 stroke gearbox of him, one is still in one of my LJ50's, one is at a mates place and I just noticed that one is on ebay at the moment they are from those 2 stroke Sierra's

I've done a bit of research, and the first variant to get an auto with a 1.3 was the JB31 produced between 1993-1995.

Otherwise, the 660 cars were available in auto from 1990 onwards.

Both autos were three speed, as was the JB32 (coil SJ80)

Is there anyone who can shed more light on this?
