Typically I get 300kms from a full tank= $50 running 95 ethanol elcheapo crap fuel in the Jimny.... Now The big ass LWB heavy as a tank, 3.5 lt v6 98 model pajero with ALL the bells and whistles inc rack, bullbar, wheels,lift etc etc very un aerodynamic traveling same distance, at same times, same roads, same driver, same fuel from same elcheapo servo used 1/4 of a tank which cost $102 to fill from empty as opposed to the $50 of the Jimny. Now honestly that equates to me that the little Jimny struggling to keep up with freeway/country road traffic is using close to if not double the fuel of an engine nearly triple it's size!!!! WTF????

A bit off topic but.....Did you see that episode of Top Gear (UK) where they had a poxy little Prius going round the track as fast as it possibly could, behind it all the way was a BMW M3 V8.
The beemer used less fuel.
Economy isn't about using the smallest engine it is about how hard the engine is asked to work.

That's why I still insist there Must be some way I can jam a 6ltr into the Jimny!?? All for the good of the environment and fuel economy of course!
I was browsing the web the other day and came across an American site that does a 4ltr alloy v8 kit for the vitara!!! Now if I could get rego with this the Jimbo would get the flick in a heartbeat!

that's not too far off the mark.

one of my old sierra's would only average 200-220kms per tank

was running std G13A engine with exhaust and extractors, 31's 2" lift, 4.19 reduction gears and 3.9:1 diff gears.

I found that i got the same economy weather i commuted sensibility or flogged the living piss out of it... so guess which one i did every day

I have a '93 Zook with 4 inch lift and running 31" tyres. I get around 9 kpl if I flog it or nurse it. That's odometre reading so more like 10.7 kpl in reality. That's with a disgustingly oversized Weber carb on it too. Oh and its a stock engine. With 6.5 reduction gears 4.5k rpm at 100 Km/h on the speedo

How "oversized" ? More flow than quad 36mm moto carbs? I always used to get around 11kpl with my weber on my old hardtop on the highway.

38/38 synchronous. The moto carbs have the vacuum slide which regulates the air flow as well as the throttle. So even though they sound big, they don't necessarily flow more. The synchronous weber opens both barrels at the same time dumping copious amounts of fuel in before hoping the engine is going fast enough to produce enough manifold vacuum to suck enough fuel. Simply put it needs careful throttle control to get proper fuel delivery.

I've been swapping engines over. Bought a nt with a rebuilt engine and quad motorbike carbs so I'm swapping that in. The nt has my old engine in now. Drove to Bunbury and back today with it running the Weber. Got 12 kpl which really surprised me considering the wind.

I really need to get out there again. I'm starting to dream about it.

i ran 32/36... it was a great improvement over a stock carby as far as power was concerned, and economy stayed much the same, but the flooding on angles was just a pain. going EFI was the best thing i ever did... get way more power now and same economy... if i baby it i'll actually get 12km per litre!

Can anyone with a G16B sierra comment on fuel economy? I did a G16B conversion recently, running 30" buckshots and went from 280 km / 27 L (G13BA) to 220 km / 27L from odo readings.. no CEL either so I assume oxy sensor (which is new) and VSS are doing their job.
