Replaced the Chain/tenisoners/water pump on my GV a few months ago - and now the timing chain covers are leaking again! Whats the trick to sealing them up so they last? Cheers James

Generally if there is an oil leak/join, I use an oil resistant/heat resistant silicone.
If it runs a gasket, Do you need the gasket? Some parts do, some dont.

I used the grey 3bond sealant which Ive seen reccomended for them . . . Thought I had done it all properly with the engine out of the car but obviously not.

3 Bond is as good as you'll get, they use it in the bike factories. Maybe you need to go over it for a bolt re-tension? Needs to be spotless when you seal it back up to.

Do you have a V6 in that GV?
Take a look at attached bulletin - it's a timing chain bulletin, but it includes specific details with regard resealing the covers

Timing Chain cover oil leaks are common on the GV V6... apparently its a PITA, to get them to stop leaking completely... mine is leaking a fair bit now, to the point of having a few drops on the ground now, but it has done 225,000kms... will keep an eye on it, and the oil level, and get it replaced on my next Major service, or sooner if it gets really bad...

Got the timing covers off last night - its leaking at the LHS lower head/block join. Looks like I got lucky getting enough sealant round the other 3 joins, but not that one. Time for a cleanup and reseal!
