This is a really bad pic (sorry!) of the stock axle shaft and bearing sans backing plate. See how the bearing sits proud of the diff housing flange? Is that normal? I think it is, there seems to be a bit of a recess in the stock backing plate to allow for that, I just want to be sure that's all.

I should probably measure the thickness of the bearing and the depth of the housing where the bearing sits. I assume the bearing sits all the way down onto the seat in the bottom of that recess.

Made some measurements.
The depth of the recess in the housing is 14mm, width of the bearing is 17mm, so the outer edge of the bearing should side proud of the flange by 3mm.

yes thats normal damo. had some more plates cut ans will be in the mail this week.
