Okay, so in advance I apologise for no photos.

My mate has a gti engine in his zook that he just bought, he has no idea what modle GTI engine is in it and either do I..

The reason I want to know, is to see wether I can use the flywheel from it stil because I am putting a G16B in it for him.

How do I know if its a MK1?

The angle adapter for the dizzy has not been used, looks like they are custom exhaust maifolds, the map sensor is just infront of the air box, the rocker cover is the dark blue colour?

Is there any markings on the block/head which will let me know what modle it is?

Thanks guys

MK1 has the AFM mounted on the throttle body.
Flywheel and clutch will bolt to G16B.

Phil, as I read the OP it is a Sierra with a GTi engine.
Swift clutch is different to Sierra so I'd lay money on it already having a Sierra clutch/pressure and flywheel.
Sierra clutch etc bolts up to G16.

The flywheel is buggered along with alot of other things, so we are just getting a new flywheel.
