This is probably a dumb question, but what would be the impact on drivability of a 1999 V6 Grand Vitara if I removed the sway bar?

You get more flex out of the front (ya need it with IFS)
It will get just that little bit more body roll going around corners but driving normal you won't notice it.
Take it off (if you want) drive it NORMAL and see mate. I bet you won't put it back on.

I removed mine about 6 months ago. There's a fraction more body roll and do notice more spring movement noises. I think the spring moves around when going through ditches, down curbs etc and makes a slight grinding sound.

I'm going to put it back in for legaility reasons though.

I removed mine to see what its like - makes a big difference in the front end as Bruce said - but I didn't like the feel on the road - figured its only 6 bolts to drop it anyway when required....

With the bar on - it couldn't flex far enough to drive up on the ramps like this, without - no problems.....

Its the long bar - with 2 90 degree bends either end - its held onto the body by 2 D shaped brackets, and to the lower arms by 2 link rods.

I fitted the manual hubs myself - cost me $120 from a wrecker, I just cleaned and regreased them - they bolt straight on - very easy job....
Rear has 30mm coil spacers from Bruce and Dobinsons shocks - also 30mm longer.
