hey guys was at the power lines having some fun after all the rain

driving through some water it got deep fast and the air box filled with water ......motor turned its self off

i opened the air box to find it full of water :( .... i got all the water out to find a small drain hole that couldnt deal with the dirty mud water

fired it up no worries just some steam out the exhaust drove home no worries , but theres an engine light on ? can anyone give me some details on this ?

might be buying a new motor before the snorkel.... 8O

should have check for water in the cylinders by removing the spark plugs before starting, does it still run smooth?

disconnecting the battery for a couple of minutes should clear the error code but really you want to get the codes out of the ECU first.

pull your dipstick and take off the oil filler cap and see if its gone milky... you might be lucky and get away with changing the oil and thats all.

next time check the depth of each puddle before you drive it =)

Could be a simple as leaving the air sensor off the airbox lid will bring up a engine light:)

could have also bent a conrod by trying to compress water. dunno how that would bring up a error code tho. and it would probably seize the engine. but trying to compress water in a engine usually causes problems cause you cant compress water.

When I did the same in my 06 VVT, i was not as lucky as you and ended up with a massive knock in the bottom end. I put another motor in as I could not be stuffed mucking around with the engine, but once we got it started once we got all the water out of it, the engine light was on. Now I dont know if it has something to do with the internals that where stuffed or water had come in contact with the air flow sensor. Once I fitted the new motor the light has not come on. It maybe because the sensor dried out. I did not change the sensor. Cant be certain.
