sorry about the silly question but what is a bump stop and what do they do. Also do you need them for a commodor hiace setup.

a bump stop is a non solid usually rubber block that limits the travel of your diff
so it does not slam into your chassis or body when it is fully compressed
all cars need them

the price varies a great deal
my last set was $3500
they are attached to the car. hence the price variation
i have never bought a car without bumpstops being attached

it depends on your suspension setup, you can extend them yourself or can buy them from a few places, low range offroad sells them i think, also Dank on here sells them as well.

by the sounds of it, the OP is doing the Commy/Hiace set up so it's gotta be a Sierra!

from what i've read about Sierra's & the above shock combo with lifted springs you need to extend the bumpstops, lots of people use RHS box section. not sure on sizes, really to find out you need to test your vehicle to find the correct spacing.

It will need minimum 25mm. But ideally for the "leave an inch of shaft" thing, 50mm.
I ran 30mm without issue for agesss.
