hey anyone converted a swb vitara from a manual trans to either a 3 or 4 speed auto?? its a carby motor heard the 4 spd needs an ecm so was thinking 3 speed what needs to be done?? new radiator and stuff? cheers.

Radiator or external cooler, kick down cable, drive shaft?, shifter, flex plate, etc. It'll be easier to just get an auto car to wreck and rob all the bits out of. 4 speed will be a fair bit of work, 3 speed will just bolt in.

ok cheers mate yeh i know about all the shifter things and plates etc just wasnt too sure about the radiator etc.. drive shaft is probs smaller too i guess..

It's like an accelerator cable. It runs from the throttle body down to the auto, tells the auto to down shift under hard acceleration. I assume the 3 speed has one, maybe someone else can confirm?

yeh ive seen it on my step bros 3sp vitara its a weird box looking thingo.. haha that has cables going in and out etc..

pretty sure the shafts are the same manual to auto, on the carby, i went the other way, I got supplied them put them with the others and were same, yep need a kickdown cable arrangement, it bolts over the drivers side strut tower, the other thing is the pedal box, well i reckon you will be able to use the same box and just put the auto brake pedal in it, much easier
