dont go getting too far ahead of yourself now muzza but if you were running a v6 and auto youd go lt230 in my opinion or could make the mq case fit, they are a divorced case atleast from memory i think mq had 4.3,4.625 and maybe a 4.66ish. i think the turbo diesel had the slightly lower one but to be honest i forget. it has been years now since i done any mq reading or working on them. Dads old MQ as you know muz,was always a reliable rig and driven fairly hard at times.diffs never let him down when it was bodied or when it was ute cabbed and trayed.35s were fine on it for a long while. the rear diff is massive as but as steve said alot can be taken out of them.and they actually have a reasonably small front diff so i think there not too bad a option. BUT your driving styles shit and youl break anything hahahahaha

The divorced patrol case is quite rare and is found in the petrol auto longwheelbase models and they aren't as strong as the lt230 I recently destroyed one and they are only 2:1 low range

Yeah. Go with a tank transfer case and use the tracks. But use the G13a to save weight.

rustyzook wrote: thanks troopy, it looks like i my have a lt230 on its way anyway Not a bad idea for a comp truck. They don't weigh much more than the sierra case ( maybe 10kg's ) and are fairly compact still. Most have a CDL, and the offset drive is perfect for a sierra. Not sure how easy they are to run in a divorced format, but married to a vit box via custom adaptor, they make for a nice short combo. Gearing is 1.2:1 high ( 1.4 in the defender) and all LT230's have stock low of 3.2xx :1, so thats not too bad either. Phil, Other than for MQ's, what are the proposed specs for this thing?

still working on that, rear will be on coils rover setup with a-frame, front at this point will be on leafs just to keep it simple with steering. will be hydro assist im trying to find a jimny 1.3 and auto box + loom and ECU, if i do it will be sierra case with 6.5's or a vit 1.6 and 3 speed auto & modded vit tc to run a sierra behind, still all on the drawing board but it has started! will not be for comps just a weekend toy so i stop getting in shit when i break the rover or the missues zook as for the v6 crappydore motor this really is worse case if i dont find anything better, i was going to run 1ltr but i can only see that running into problems and hearing appsie say "i told you so" or something like that i dare say ill here it off him quite a few times in this build lol appsie i agree with ya, im going to keep it simplish, i just couldent say no to the lt230, never no where it may come in handy! Edit: it will be on 35's to start with

Garner Heat treated with Birfield rings?? Something like that. I think they'll need to start looking into a CRMO option moving forward. I heard they popped one or 2 at TTC.
