An adapter is available to mate a (vitara)1.6 to a manual from a (sierra)1.3 so I reckon with slight modification you could use it to mate a (sierra)1.3 to a (vitara)1.6 autobox.

Are you sure about that....? Does that then mean a 5speed from a Sierra would bolt to a newer 1.3 Jimny motor...?

yes, but it will be a manual 'auto' as the electronics require the injection system of a g13bb in front of it.
you could adapt a TRAUMATIC behind it........................................
but i'd much rather spend my time at the pub
which is waht you will be thinking when the tri-matic packs up on the side of the road!

there would be some serious fab work involved, the vitara has the X~fer case on the back of the gearbox & the sierra is a divorced X~fer case.

Yeah, a little bit of work, I'm running a Sierra transfer with a short jack shaft and a support bearing for the output of the auto.
soon to be dual transfer.

What signal does the Jimny auto need from the injection to make it operate properly? I have a gti engine and wouldnt mind an auto behind it. What are these boxes like?

couldnt tell you what signals it will and wont need. Im putting my jimny box behind a 1.6 baleno. I would assume that if the ECU you have for the Swift has the pin outs for and auto box these will do it.
People will tell you that they arent very strong. Incomparision to the AW4 they probably arent.
