So the air compressor in my zook finally died and i need to get a new one, but not sure what's actually good. I have an arb compressor in my prado and while its reliable, I find it disappointingly slow. The (now dead) setup in my zook was an endless air type setup using a sanden SD508 it died from being ran too many times without topping up the oil feed. Oops! (have been running it for 5 years though so I'm happy with the life its had)

I know nothing compares to a sanden when it comes to output, but what's the next best thing?

I have a 9 litre air tank, pressure switch, check valve etc already there to plumb into.

They sell them with tank setups similar to what I'm running so I assume it would be up to the task. But has anyone used one?

You can twins or singles. Maybe you steal one of a bus....

I want to get away from a belt driven compressor to take some strain off the motor. It's only a little 1 litre.

You're putting far less strain on the motor with a belt driven compressor, per task. Using an electric compressor will add much more load because the alternator isn't all that efficient.

I'd replace the sanden. All the hard work is done.

X2 with steve, replace with what you already have. The only reason it failed was you neglected it, if it has worked for five it sounds like a good system.

For electrics I've always run the cheap twin head "typhoon" style ones off ebay, $70 and I got 5 years out of my last one till I pulled it apart and put it back together and it was noisey :/ always has outperformed my friends ARB and TJM compressors. My mechanic mate who stocks ironman gear just recently got their new big compressor and it outpumps mine by a noticeable amount but about twice the price, it has a rather larger piston/motor

Think thats the one i got, but are you running it to a tank too or just through the hose?

I bought one of these and it hasnt let me down yet..... The compressor will idle at 30 psi constant with no load and open hose

Which arb is in your prado? The twin compressor?

I run an endless air on my sierra and love it. Since buying the model I have, they have also brought out a 10 or 12 cfm model - how could you go wrong with that?
