Not to fluent with exhaust terminology... but the rear cat? thing just before the tip on my system has been stuffed since i got the car, its insides are showing..red cloth? anyway, the mud that had sealed it up for the short term has now started to come off..so time for a new system i reckon lol Just called around for this setup, Extractors, Hi flow cat and 2" system.. got 3 prices. $850,$900 and $1150.. Just wondering what gains I could expect from that system on my G16B... also if anyone could recommend a good exhaust joint around melbournes west that would be appreciated:) cmon, talk me into it...

Hey mate,
i wouldnt really worry about doing extractors unless you really want to and can afford it, i recently got a 2" system on mine with a high flow cat and muffler, i didnt notice any major gains in power maybe a little in torque. i had to go back and get a small hot dog fitted as it was to noisy for me.
i paid $670 for a 2" system, with a high flow cat and muffler, then another $60 for the resonator. ask for it to be as high as possible, do you have a body lift or plan on fitting one soon? if so wait till the BL is in so it can be fitted higher up.
hope this helps Mitch

thanks Mitch,
No body lift and dont plan on ever putting one in, not a fan really.. Considering you paid 730 for yours, I might aswell just add tthe extra money and grab extractors whilst im at it..
I dont want it to loud, nor sounding like a buzzbox..so might need a hotdog too,.

ok fair enough, i didnt really know how loud it was going to be with just a muffler so i did that orginally, i waited a week to see if i got used to it and sitting at 100-110 got really annoying, the resinator keeps the noise there untill a certain rpm then quietens it down. 2700rpm is less noisy than 2500rpm which is good for me as most of my driving is between 2500 and 3100rpm.

Extractos make noise and will do bugger all on a G16B, they already have an OK manifold
$450 for my 2" system, cat and single muffler (dunno how people pay so much for exhausts) and I cant hear it at 100 and its not noisy any other time
Cant comment about the power, other stuff was busted when I got it

just got a 2 inch system on my g16b powered sierra. I have lukey performance extractors to a highflow cat to a redback muffler and out. Sounds pretty cool but performance wise im not sure on the gain as i didnt try it standard.
Yes my system after the extractors only cost $440 drive away. People are getting ripped.

Which is 100% true, but G16B manifolds seem to fall apart. Mine looked like this: Which can't have been good for flow, and #4 runner was cracked nearly all the way around. I'd fit extractors. Steve.

Its not a G16B but in my sierra with a G16A i downgraded from a 2" system to a 1.75" system and it was far better through the rev range. It was later changed back to a 2" because it had some warranty work done to it and they replaced one section with 2" . so later when i had my muffler replaced at another place he finished the rest of in 2". It sounded slightly better in 2" but felt far better in low range as 1.75"

Cheers Dave, I'll give them a bell and see what they say... if theyre to pricey I might just go with the $900 quote from Tayla Made exhausts in melton, seemed to be a good bloke. steep price for a small system though..
