When I park the Jimny on even a slight upward angle, the rear stem leaks washer fluid and will eventually empty the reservoir. In a matter of an hour or 2.

I am thinking a small one way valve might work. They are of course designed to stop fluid flowing back the other way, but I am thinking it might offer enough resistance to the fluid whilst at standstill (ie, not being pumped).

I have the same problem and a steep driveway, so mine empties overnight

I may not understand exactly what you're doing, but wouldn't a one way valve stop it going down the line even when it is pumping?

Only if it is installed backwards. I intend to install it in the direction of flow. I am not trying to stop backward flow, but rather utilising the spring close action of the valve (a thin rubber disc I imagine) to stop leaking of fluid under nil pressure.

there will one in the tail gate/rear section already, otherwise every time you press the rear washer it would have to prime the whole line from the washer bottle.

Hmm. Maybe that one is faulty and therefore why it is leaking. Will have to check it out.

Its probably working fine.... your trying to stop the flow in the opposite direction.

Exact same happens to my jimny, and I searched around before and found a few topics, some people just blocked it completely and disconnected the pump.

Let us know how you go with the new valve, I imagine a heavy duty one will probably have enough spring pressure to stop gravity flow on a hill, the motivation to fix it is less than filling often from the tap in my driveway atm for me.

I rarely use the rear wiper! Only if it rains. Then its wet

Same, but when its empty, no washer, front or rear.

And its the detergent in the washer that makes the difference. I use Bars Bugs.

Something like this would be good but I think 15psi is too much. 5psi would be plenty.
Maybe they can be pulled apart and weakened.

I'd be fitting one of these...

Stainless.
Can handle fluids.
Is NC until powered.
Would be ideal as it can be connected to squirter pump power so is only letting fluid through when you want squirters working.

Not sure about P&A but I'm sure someone local will sell them.

atari, not often, but that's not the point. When I want to use the front, the reservoir is empty because its leaked out the back. Only happens when the vehicle is on an incline of more than about 5 degrees.

Wan33s. I purchased a $3.60 one way valve today from Bursons. I'll chuck that in the system and see if that helps. A cheap punt. If not, I'll search for that solenoid tap.

simply block it off then. what you're wanting to do, won't work as the pressure from the washer motor will close the 1 way valve with it fitted the way you're intending.
