Seanus,
That's kind of a bummer that you are getting that lean bog without a vacuum leak, kind of cool you don't have a leak, but a bummer that you can't get rid of the hesitation. Have you checked your vacuum advance diaphragm? If you pull the hose use a vacuum pump, or just suck on the hose to work the diaphragm, then block the hose and see if it leaks down or not. I know about 60% of the ones I have tested came up bad. Not only are they a vacuum leak, but they don't give you the advance you need either. Is your timing spot on, and the coil in good shape?

O2/lambda gauges rock Armsup It is so nice to absolutely know what is going on instead of having to pull over and check plugs every time you make a tweak. Even then have to kind of eye ball the plugs and guess. My only problem was being a control freak about having the perfect mixture all the time lol. I drove Danette freaking nuts pulling over and swapping jets, or messing with the idle mixture lol.

SuziBlu You are right about the intake , cutting out those two holes, and blending it all to flow well makes major difference. The Weber adapter that is just one single plate blocks over half of one of those holes too. I can't believe they get away with selling the one piece adapter, whats the point in putting on a performance carb if you they are going to block half of one of the throats. 8O

I have some pics of a couple of manifolds I did on my laptop, I will see if I can pull them off when I get a chance(needs restore). It's not hard to figure out, but like you said pics would be really nice to have especially I you haven't done it before.

The bad thing about US manifold is that there is a major restriction in the "Y" parts of the manifold where the one runner on each side becomes two. Sarge told me about the restriction, so I cross sectioned with a cutting disk one to see how small the passage necks down.. I was blown away at how small a hole there is just past that "Y" section, it is the most narrow part of the stock manifold. I am surprised we get the performance out of them that we do with the stock manifold, it sure wasn't designed very well.

I have a wealth of Sarges info. Would you guys like me to pop it up here or make a "good tech" thread?

I'd love to see it. I spent a few weeks on an off with him going over stuff, but he has years of good working knowledge on experience. Even thought I don't run a Weber anymore, I would still love to read anything he;s written on them. I'm always willing to learn, and it seems like I am the guy who gets stuck working with the Webers whenever they act up, or a new one shows up.

I think there is a ton of people would also love to see it..

Thanks JR, I sure appreciate it.
Most of the info is in my head, and some in pictures on the laptop so it may take a day or two compile. I'll try to make it organized so it's easier to read.

webbers hate restricted snorkels so heres something i fabed up,,
most water splashes up from front so faces forward for offroad then loosen top bolt and
turrn towards side to keep extractor heat from getin sucked in for road use,,

32/36 reversed starves a bit going down the steepest hills which is great for engine braking
anyone that has a problem with this carb hasn't got it tuned properly

Would a different sized exhaust make a difference? After swapping the engine into my nt, I haven't had any hiccups or bunny hopping. The only difference is that the exhaust on the nt is 1 1/2 inch instead of 2 1/4 on the wt it initially came off. I haven't fiddled with jets or anything. Just swapped and drove.

More back pressure tends to make it run richer
every time I've openned up an exhaust on a vehicle they've always run leaner

2 1/4in is to big on a 1L or1.3L... 1 7/8in is a good size...

lol having a few issues, besides being away for so long, they foul on the brakes, didn't want to, but put a body lift in, lift the master over the top of them, next is to make new brake lines so as to make them fit.

Log slow job, really hanging to hear her running again.
