Hi Zookers,

Can someone tell me how many K's they get from a 1.6 4 door vit (efi).

From memory they have a 60L tank, correct me if I am wrong?

I have a swb carb vit with a 40L tank and only get 250K's out of a tank, which sort of shits me

I am about to buy a new vit but am still deciding on the lwb 1.6 or the lwb 2.0 v6.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Jamie,

LWB SE416 Vits have a 55L tank. They will see oer 450km to near the empty mark on the guage. My LWB uses about 9.5L/100km.

If you are only getting 250km to a tank in your SWB then something is wrong. My SWB once got 440km to absolute empty but averaged 10-11L/100km most of the time.

There are so many variables, tyres, lift and racks/roof baskets which cause wind resistance.

Ask gregwatkins what he gets, sounds about right for a carb 1.6.

Thanks for the replies,

Tyres are 215/75 on alloy wheels, I have a TJM bullbar, snorkel, extractors, 3" lift and I have the rear seats taken out.

When it all comes down to it I am pretty sure that it is using more fuel than it should, but not really looking to fix it as I need a lwb for extra camping gear/ fridge etc....

I have a 1.6 LWB vit, its got a 2" lift and a roof rack and I get about 9L per hundred in the city and its got a 55L tank (with standard 205 - 75 tyres), hope that helps mate! but yeah my mate had problems with his SWB using too much fuel then it died and he sold it to a recker, hope that doesnt happen to ya!

Ok siting on 30s wit roof basket and bag, rod tube on side and loaded full of stuff for the coffins trip...........

On the way there I spent 250$ at servos thought it was mostly on fuel when I had a look at receipts realized my shit head passenger got a fair few lolled and junk food...... And other stuff to keep him quiet, I was also driving with foot to the floor a fair few times, and said pasanger needed to take pee stops on a regular bassis... And I had to catchup to the convoy constantly........ Sitting on somewhere between 110 and 125 I was getting just shy of 300 Kim's to the tank..


On the way home I sat behind a truck kept speed to 95 - 100 got about 350km to the tank, kid got no servo snacks on the way home either and it saved me a fair bit....


Any way, before muddies and without any thing in the car I'd get 400 Kim's to a tank driving at 95 Kim's / h.

Drive like an idiot it drops to. 250km a tank.



With muddies and loaded I'd say I get 330 Kim's to a tank before I'd start looking for a servo...

damn straight i agree with greg, my usual around town is 300-350km per tank, havent done a trip with the 5.12s fitted but with the 4.6s 30s (ATs) 2in body lift and 2 in suspension lift was getting 450km to the tank on the open road sitting on 95-100kph, which is enough with the soft top, mines a carby one too, was auto (hence having the 4.6s)

My Vitara, 96 4 door, averaged 450-470km per tank standard with 205/70/15, sometimes got 500km to tank.
With 29 inch tires it dropped to around 420-440km per tank.
31's dropped it to around 410-420 per tank as long as i hardly used 5th, if i used 5th then 390-400km per tank.
33's and 4.3 hilux diffs averaged around 400km per tank, but meant not using 4th or 5th, and very high revs all the time.
35's just strained the engine and i pulled it off the road before using a tank.
This is all 70% highway driving at 110-120.
I'm hoping to get at least 400km to tank with 35's and 3.8litre V6

Lwbs have bigger tanks than swbs though, and bugger all weight difference!

My SWB EFI gets 300km-350km per tank depending on my driving, I drive in peak hour atleast 4 times a week. I have 31s, Rola Roof Basket, Extractors, Aerials, Bullbar, 9000lbs Winch with steel cable (very heavy),rear locker and a 5" lift.

With none of that I was getting 400km per tank.

Once you change to bigger tyres, your cars oddometer will read less distance than it is in reality.
Need to use a gps or get speedo adjusted if want accuracy.
My LWB Auto Vit on 31's gets around 400K on odometer before I fill it,
but the real figure could be around 480K (A guess as done no maths)

Thanx for the info,

I put about 35 - 37 Liters in it and get about 250 ( I would never let it run dry so I am getting about 250 on each fill).

I live in Canberra and the limit here is 100k's and even when I do go on trips my vit it doesn't regularly get itself over 110 , so even if I wanted to drive like an idiot my vit just doesn't have the heart for it .

It has just reached 313K so I really should really not expect to much from it. That's one of the reasons that I asked about how many K's from a LWB EFI 1.6 as I am due for an upgrade.

Another reason is that I need more room for all of my camping gear and my fridge, it all just fits in my SWB but once my fridge, sway and bag are in there is not mych more room for anything else (ie. more beer ), and that I am wheelchair bound and although cars need fuel to run, the less amount of times that I have to get in and out of it to fill it up is going to be better in the long run

You ned to get ya self a GV. I get 350kms+ around town and 450kms+ out on the HWY and thats with the lift, tyres and roof racks.
All i did was swap diff ratios from 4.3 to 4.8's.

And this is from a 2000 V6 manual thats driven with a heavy foot

just filled my swb vit on 235 muddies up... guage was showing just over a quater of a tank left.. 220kms on the odo. however it took 22litres.. and considering the swb tank is ~42l.. i still had half a tank.
on stockies i got 402km to a tank.. had ~2 litres of fuel left in the tank
