well for starters kenn is one of the best drivers i have come across offroad, so i take his advice seriously.
as for dinosour efi it comes down to many things, not just the ecu and injectors but also anciliary items. as for the gti being more comfortable reaching revs i would have to say bananas!
i have had a gti sierra (and unfortunately have had to fix many more) and one thing it did not do was reach high revs 'more' comfortably, the 1.6 does it with so much less carrying on.
as for the system of 2 cams being better than 1, well that just stems from a design point, not a performance point. it is much easier to design a multivalve stystem using two cams than it is one. with todays cad programs and cnc machines it is much more feasable to design a sixteen valve head with one cam, plus running one cam means friction loss of one, not two. and the thing with adjustable rockers, well every 100k or so they are adjusted and thats it, with buckets can can develope air pockets etc, which gti's are famous for. once again the 'bucket' system just stems from a design point, not a performance one.
another thing i have noticed over the years is a lot of 'gti' racers, being unable to find good gti motors actually swiching to 1600 16 valve engines.(which i have sourced for them) so far all have said they will not waste anymore time with a gti and the potential of the 1600's is far greater, both power and strength wise. and on another scene i have had many gti powered sierra's converted to 1.6 after said owners had driven a 1.6 mpfi vehicle. once again, they also said they would not waste thier time.
yes, this is a thread about what people think is the best on and off-road motor, myself and others like kenn have 'actually' wheeled with a lot of different engine combos, and while the gti engine is a decent engine, it is not far superior in design and technology to the 1.6, in particular late model baleno's etc. i would say i would love to have a h20v6 and auto, which i could, but it would start outweighing the benefits of a lightweight 1.6. a lexus 1fuz would be nice too....but alass....not legal.
once again i ask what experience '4 wheeling' do you have with zook engine combos. saying the 1.3 gti is far superior to other zook motors is a big call. and don't feed me this 'mechanic' stuff. i used to hear it all the time when i had a workshop.
said H20 sitting in the shed..............................
