I think what gives webbers the shitty name is they are so tuneable tis easy to set em up wrong

though I still say no place on a sierra, the floats arent designed for angles, SU's on the other had

I have to agree with Nik on this one. Ive had the weber 32/36 on the zuk for almost 3 years. Put a kit through it the first time i got it and a general tidy up (as you do with secondhand parts with unknown history) and never had a problem. Tuning problems?? Hurmmm must be an interesting carb then. The only 'tuning' you can do on the weber 32/36 is adjust the idle speed and idle mixture. Apart from this you can change the jets, jets dont go out of tune. Yes not 100% offroad but still usable, especially with some gearing. Fuel economy good, same if not better than the stock carb if your foot isnt nailed to the floor all the time. Power increase and responsiveness worked well both off road as well as onroad.

S/hand 32/36 off a ford cortina ~$100
overhaul gasket kit ~$50
Adapter Plate ~$50
Airfilter to suit ~$50
Jet ~$30

And yea with Roycies comment, an SU is ultimate for offroad conditions. Can get these of rover v8's and i think there about 1-3/4inch. Will feed the 1.3 enough!

I bought my weber for $100, put it on backwards, adjusted the float levels, vented the bowl. The idle is a bit out but it continued to run when my zook was on its side. It will just about flip backwards before any sign of stalling. The only drama is very steep downhill sections it starts to starve a bit. It was a cheaper option than rebuilding my stocko carb. I think webers are a lot better than people think. If I knew anything about carby's I'm sure my weber would have no dramas at all.

hmmm after reading all this. i might not put my webber on that i have sitting here. sounds like i should just rebuild/tune the existing standard one.
