I am looking at a little insight into if there is any reason why the Bundera front axle has never been used in an axle conversion.

A lot of owners do the Hilux front/Bundera rear for obvious reasons (rear is off centre) , and I am guessing that they use the hilux front due to already having leaf spring mounts.
I have also noted that Bundera steering is the same configuration as suzuki (pitman, draglink, tierod and knuckles), unlike the hilux J arm set up. The bundera front diff is also high pinion.

My questions:
1. For someone going coils, is the bundera front diff a valid option?
2. From memory the front diff uses an 80 series centre (high pinion, however same size as hilux) but hilux shafts/cvs, correct?

Please include any other information I may have not thought about.

i think a bit of it would come down to availability. can find a cheap lux diff anywhere,normally lets you spend a bit more trying to get a bundy rear. your right they are hi pinion like 80s,79s etc yet still only lux width.i think the bundy is a good option if you have one lined up.im not sure if the power steer modeled bundys are a 80 series box aswell?

i wish i could bring myself to pull the airlocked front out of my 80 towcar to throw the front diff in the buggy lol and run 6 shooters backwards with steering ram behind the diff.

i dunno if you can slap in dirty 30s or not or if there is any available upgrade for axles so i guess that would be a factor too for blokes building buggies or bigger tyred rigs

I ran Bundy's in my old V6 ute. Don't bother with the front. There are no upgrades for them.

Hilux front.
Bundy Rear.

How did the steering go? What was your set up, or can you show me a build up thread? was there any problems with using a high pinion diff?
I'm not really fussed about upgrades thar much seeing as I'm running Nt diffs currently.

No build thread. It was before the interwebs

I've got lots of photos, but no clear pics of the front end.

I ran the HP centre, with rear tie rod. Drag link connected to IFS hilux P/S box. ( chassis extention)

Radius arms were retained. It was a really boring instal. I'm far more adventurous now

Lux front vs Bundy front.

All 8" centres fit, lux,4runner,surf,bundy,coiled cruiser fronts and more.

Everything is interchangeable except axles!

I used lux front but custom suspension. Lux vented discs, bundy steering arms, which then must use a high pinion centre and i chose some dirty30s to suit a lux.

I bought a bundy set, f&r. I only used the locking hubs, steering arms and rear housing and rearaxles..everything else was cut off and bought seperate to change my ratios and disc rear etc.
