Hi, I'm keen on finding me a Jimny, less than 150,000km, air bags, lifted a little, nothing too crazy modded, jx or jlx, pref hard top.and i'll have between 5k - 7.5k (can stretch a little more) to spend. I like the look of this http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/city/car ... 1002820617 but I'm not sure about the engine swap and I'd prefer air bags.

Let me know what's out there. p.s I'm in Melbourne but willing to travel for the right car.

Cheers, Rowan

Mate that jimny is awesome I was going to buy it but me and the missus were on our P,s but now thinking about it i made the mistake of not buying it and now it's costing me because of the mods I have to do to mine. The modifications on that car alone will cost you $6,500.

Thanks for the reply bud. What do you think of the engine swap? Has it been done many times before? and do you think it detracts from the value?

Cheers

It is worth the whole 6500 he is asking. I was going to pay 9 for it 6 months ago when I was looking, and for the motor yes and no, not many jimny owners can afford the swap or they are happy with the g13bb power but as it stated in the add it is done by a professional by the Suzuki store down there so it is not a dodgy swap. And the motors look nearly identical to each other.

Motor is a common swap. in sierra's and jims. All they would of done is change the block. They are virtually the same

Does it have powersteer?? That Jim is a base model, JX, vinyl floors. The JLX have ps, pwindows, and pmirrors

Looks like a good buy, bargain more.

NT rego means a rego change for you. You will need a roadworthy + engineer for that motor.

I just checked Vicroads and they say all I need is a VASS and a receipt from the guy proving purchase of the engine. Where does the engineers cert come into it?

with nsw if the cc increase is more than 200cc with a direct bolt in motor/block, no other changes, it can still be roadworthy as normal.

If over 200cc, an engineer cert must be obtained.

Not sure what Vic regs are.
