Up for sale is my pride and joy of the last 4 years! A 1982 SJ410 Suzuki Sierra

-3.8 V6 (VT commodore) motor + box, in front of sierra transfer
-8’ lift (SPOA/4”BL) with HD springs
-33x12.5 A/Ts with 80% tread
-Jeep CJ5 diffs, Skyline P/S box
-Bucket seats + harness’ and roll bar
-Shaved custom body with soft top
-Comes with spares incl hilux diffs (bundera rear) with hi-steer
-Will consider swaps, preferably with $$

-Completely custom from front to back, asking $8,900 Negotiable

-Call 0406 057 055 / stephen__peter@hotmail.com / or message me on here
cheers, stephen

Engine:
-Chassis has 180,000kms. Motor upgraded by previous owner (12,000kms since swap) to a 3.8 ECOTEC + 4 speed box (VT Commodore), professionally installed. Engine had 60,000km before swap, runs like new, blows no smoke, runs exactly how you would expect it to!
-Custom sump, transmission cooler, heavy duty radiator, twin thermo fans and all new fluids. New leads, Extra Long Life battery (36 month warranty), and Pod filter.
-Custom Extractors, Cat, and 2.5” straight through.

Drivetrain:
-4sp commodore box adapted to 1L sierra transfer case (stronger, reduced gearing)
-Custom gearbox cross member and custom transfer case brackets and mounts.
-Custom rear tail shaft ($$$)
-Early Australian CJ5 diffs, with massively reduced 5.4 ratios. Front hubs recently converted to free-wheeling.
-All shoes, cylinders, kingpin and wheel bearings, and axle seals have been replaced in the past year. Also has extended brake lines.

Wheels:
-15x8 white sunraysias (5 stud, Suzuki/ jeep are the same pcd) with -22 offset, wide track.
-33 x 12.5” Pirelli Scorpion All-terrains with approx. 80% tread (good 12mm).
-5" flares, locknuts

Suspension:
-Sprung over (4’ lift)
-Standard leaves in rear, new 2” HD springs up front
-Near new Monroe shocks all round.
-New polyurethane bushes, shackles, and U-bolts (front and rear)
-Recently had extended lower shock mounts fabricated and installed.
-Has 4” body lift, and custom lowered floorpan directly bolted to the trans X-member (NO it’s not just floating around 4” above the chassis)
-Skyline steering box, custom pitman arm
-Oversized return to centre steering dampener.

Body:
-NO RUST! When I bought the car there was a small rust hole in the right corner of the front bar (it was off a different car) however I have recently had that fixed and resprayed (can see in photos) plus new bar lights installed. Front end is one of a kind, has been pumped out and looks great, with bonnet latches, and fold down windscreen. Doors and the tray have all been cut down (smooth, no handles) and the fuel filler shaved and relocated inside the tub. Tailgate is checker plate, insanely strong rear bar (8mm steel) and tow bar + ball. Full marine carpet throughout. Custom centre dash with oil preeure and fuel gauges, plus a lockable console with fold down cup trays. Front seats are ADR approved buckets, with 4 point harness’. Solid mounted Roll bar with padding. Also comes with 2 near new Vitara rear folding seats (were fitted, but only blue plated as a 2 seater). Trans tunnel is custom with deep floors. I also had a full (waterproof) vinyl soft top custom made with zip out windows and roll up back. Has a JVC head unit and 6” speakers front and back. Semi-sealed H4 headlights.

I still have the ENGINEERS CERT from NSW when I bought the car. Listed modifications can be seen in the last photo. Covers everything. Even the 33s are engineered.

The Sierra is currently registered in QLD and has been BLUE PLATED for ALL MODIFICATIONS. Eight codes in total on the blueplate: LH6, LA1, LB1, LD2, LD1, LG2, LK1, LS2. Code definitions: Engine/ Transmission Substitution, Rear Axle Replacement, Differential Substitution, Brake System Substitution, Seating Capacity Alteration, Steering Conversion, and Individual and Low volume Vehicles.

Cons:
-Shocks are fine for me, but if you want to take it offroad probably want longer ones if you're after more articulation
-Tachometer has not been reconnected since engine swap
-Fuel gauge is a little out of calibration (runs empty when gauge reads a bit under ¼).
I’m not a mechanic, not pretending to be, and as these didn’t bother me I was in no rush to pay someone to get them fixed. Also, if you try and select 4Low, the transfer lever catches on the front of the trans tunnel hole, so only partially engages and occasionally slips out. It’s an easy fix, just needs the hole extended a bit. I rarely use the car offroad so this has not been an issue for me either. It is not a show car, so there are some small scratches here and there, but nothing noticeable, and all panels are straight

Comes with QLD rego until end of October, and I can try and organise a RWC, but we can talk about that if you're interested. It is not the most beautiful thing to drive (doesn’t handle like a race car) but it has character, and gets up and goes. It's an amazing car, one in a million, and will not disappoint. I’m asking $8,900, and pretty negotiable, also open to swaps. I’m sure you can appreciate just how much time and effort, don't even start on money, has gone into it, but all reasonable offers considered. Comes with spares, including hilux diffs and an adaptor kit from the states. I’m sure I’ve left things out, so if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask! Inspections more than welcome, just give me a call.

I never really took it offroad (went through the forest dirt tracks 2 or 3 times) so don't know it's full potential, but being so lite with big tyres, great clearance, and great power id imagine it will go more than fine.

It was my daily for about 3 years, and was perfect as I never really left town. Never gave me a hassle, but if you do a lot of freeway driving it becomes a bit of an issue. For swaps I'm after something I can use as a daily, as I'm currently driving a borrowed car, would love another sierra, but I'm easy. I have to drive a lot more k's these days (almost 1000/week) and because of this, the sierra just sits in the shed for weeks. It's an awesome car, seriously amazing, but it's time for me to move on, and I would rather see it go to a good home and be enjoyed by someone else. :(

cheers, stephen

I know there are mod plates with codes on them ..I can read... but 3.8 litres in a SWB Sierra is just not on in Qld neither are 33" tyres neither is SOA neither are harnesses alone without standard belts etc etc..
Having a mod plate DOES NOT make it legal.

Maybe in NSW or VIC don't know but certainly not in Qld.

i know. spring over is illegal too. But the mod plate was done legitimately. I drove to the nearest shop amd asked if they know someone who does mod plates and thats who did it. ive been pulled over by police (not DOT inspectors though) and once theyve seen ive gone to the effort of having someone professional check over it they are quite pleasant to chat to and next time leave me alone. never had a problem

I don't make the rules, and I'm not claiming you will be untouchable to the law. but i do have a mod plate. and it is legitimately coded for the modifications. cheers

Looks like an old NSW mod plate.

This would take the cake in AZAOM (auszookers abominations of the month). Looks great.
GLWS.

i dont know. the first person i went to agreed to do it. so wasnt going to keep looking. all i had to do was get the brake lines fixed (not fixed well enough, rubber hosing starting to crack) and that was it.

Just noticed the dash pic...
NO heater controls..
Does that mean there is no windscreen demister?
Another fail in Qld and I'm sure every other state in Aust.

Why did you modify the grill?

This one has the same motor, aswell as front mounted radiator..... No grill chops needed.

i bought it with everything done. The front is forward because without it the commodore box is too long to fit infront of the transfer, from what i can see. and it DOES have a demister. you guys dont lay off do you..

you should be just as worried about making sure any one buying this is informed about what is legals in QLD and whats not.
you would be surprised what people can sue for these days.

there is no way this is going to pass a road worthy, not to mention get passed when they take it into QT to get rego sighted.

33s = illegal cannot be mod plated
3.8 motor = illegal cannot be mod plated
SPOA = illegal cannot be mod plated

to be fair, i doubt many of you have 100% legal cars.

http://www.tmr.qld.gov.au/~/media/c792a ... icles2.pdf

first paragraph on page 11:
"but the overall diameter of the tyre must not vary by more than +15mm or -26mm."

so anyone who has tyres more than 15mm taller is driving a defective vehicle.

yep, lots of people do have illegal tyres, but the majority dont have 3.8 litres of cast iron sitting on diffs with 8 inches of lift and no safety upgrades to brakes etc.

sorry but this is a death trap waiting to happen

an excel doing 150 at night in the wet on a 60km road is also a death trap. its the operator just as much as the vehicle. its about knowing the limits of your vehicle amd driving with that in mind. hence why it isnt my daily.

im not advertising it as "the ultimate retiree 4wd built for towing your caravan around australia" or "the perfect family car ideal for fitting 3 baby seats"

it is what it is. and for what i used it for for the last 3 years its been perfect. reliable, looks tuff/good (arguebly as we've read) does exactly what i want it to and never disappointed. but things change, and due to that i no longer use the car. everyone has the right to change.

AND id have no need for the sale if i could physically collect everyones $0.02 worth off here lol
